  18. <p>     Of all the oddball characters in television's Twin Peaks,
  19. the oddest may be FBI agent Dale Cooper, who compulsively
  20. dictates his thoughts to an unseen Diane. Actor Kyle MacLachlan,
  21. 31, who plays Cooper, is a straight arrow from Yakima, Wash.,
  22. who read Hardy Boys mysteries as a kid. "In my own way, I'm just
  23. as strange as Cooper. But the things I do seem absolutely normal
  24. to me." One strange thing about him is his notion that the agent
  25. is a blend of Jimmy Stewart, Sherlock Holmes and Cary Grant.
